Hi all I have just finished installing / configuring my dovecot IMAP server. Im seeing something weird happing. It seems my Winblows Outlook users are experiencing a problem whereby when they delete an email, Outlook puts a line though the email, but the mail does not delete. Im not sure if this is a an outlook problem or a dovecot IMAP problem. I cant see anything in the conf file to suggest that it is a IMAP problem. If anyone has any tips or advice, it would greatfully be appreciated. Kind Regards Brent Clark

i have recently rebuilt dovecot on my mail server as i wanted to add SSL support for it. well, my OpenSSL libs are 64-bit, so what they hey, i'll build dovecot 64-bit as well. worked just fine, no issues at all. the setup is: Solaris 9/SPARC Sun C compiler Dovecot 0.99.14 after rebuilding it 64-bit, i now have a small problem however. I cannot save messages to IMAP folders from Mail.app on OSX 10.3.9. OE6 and mutt work fine, no problems there, but when I try to save a message from Mail.app, it tells me it couldn't save the message and i get the folloing in my log file on the mail server: May 19 16:24:37 wiggum.4amlunch.net imap(paula): [ID 702911 mail.error] utime() failed for /usr/home/paula/Maildir/.Sent Items/tmp/1116534277.P10885Q0M105223.wiggum.4amlunch.net: Value too large for defined data type does anyone have any clue as to what could be the cause of this? i would say simple 64-bit uncleanliness issue, but why doesn't it also affect OE6 or mutt? there is some way that Mail.app accesses IMAP that is specifically tickling this problem. thank you very much for your time, and if there is any other information you might need to track this down, please ask and i'll get it right away. -brian -- "I fear death only slightly more than I hate my life." --8-bit Theater

[Dovecot] Active Directory Auth

Hi, this is my fist post :) I'm trying to authenticate users to Active Directory, but I don´t know how to set up dovecot-ldap.conf to do this. Specially user_filter and pass_filter attrs. Hi Timo, How much of the code base is shared between dovecot-lda and the dovecot CVS? I'm asking because when I tried out 'deliver' a few weeks ago I was seeing all sorts of nasty index corruption errors in the logs...and obviously lots of fixes have gone into core dovecot (but haven't seen many go into dovecot-lda) Reuben

I've been searching, and I can't find any rpms of dovecot stable for RHEL 4. Does anybody know where I can get one? Ever since we went from IMAP-UW to Dovecot, we've been having frequent problems with mbox corruption, and I've read that 1.0 fixes many of those types of problems. Hi Im trying dovecot for the first time, and I would like to get shared mail folders to work. I came acress this content (copied and pasted below). and the error I get is: Fatal: Error in configuration file /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf line 204: Expecting '=' ===================================================== default_mail_env = maildir:~/Maildir namespace private { separator = / prefix = inbox = yes hidden = no } namespace public { separator = / prefix = Public/ location = maildir:/var/mail/public inbox = no hidden = no } namespace shared { separator = / prefix = Accounts/ location = maildir:/var/mail/accounts inbox = no hidden = no } =================================================== If anyone has and tips or advice etc, it would be most appreciated. [Dovecot] Corrupted transaction log file, dotlocks..?

I'm new to Dovecot but I've been able to get it up and running on a test basis without too much difficulty. I'm running dovecot-stable-20050508 with maildir, under Linux (an old Gentoo setup that's been stable for about 2,5 years). Mail client is Thunderbird. However, in the course of experimentally copying the accumulated household email (95000 emails from the last 10 years) from the existing IMAP server (UW-IMAP) using imapsync, I'm seeing some problems. I can't relate these log messages to anything in the configuration file or the documentation, so I'm wondering if I can ask for help? I got problem i don't know how to solve. [Dovecot] new-attrib lost when calling through pop3

Hi, I noticed, that all messages are moved from new/ to cur/ (using maildirs) after the authentication in pop3, even before the list command. I'm working with 1.0-stable-20050426. Why is this done? Shouldn't a message keep it's new-attrib as long as it isn't retrieved? This is how it worked with qmail-pop3d. Through imap, it works correctly. It's just sad if I can't distinguish between older and new emails with imap, just because I logged in through pop3 shortly before. Regards Marten

[Dovecot] fcntl lock timout on maildir format Trash .index file under OpenBSD sparc64

Whenever I attempt to retrieve or delete mail (Using thunderbird win client) operation takes several minutes. right before completion posts the following error to maillog: May 14 10:22:04 NAPUtil imap(djrobert): Timeout while waiting for release of shared fcntl() lock for index file /home/djrobert/Maildir/.Trash/.imap.index deleting the index file speeds up the operation once. subsequent operations are slow again I don't know what other process is placing a lock on the file. or how to clear it. I am running the 9914p0 package distributed with a march 11 3.7 snapshot (OS loaded from the same snapshot). I previously was running the release 3.6 OS and the Dovecot package that came with the CD. both installs exhibit the same behavior. Both Dovecot and postfix are configured with fcntl locking only. What the heck am I doing wrong? Thanks, Dale
