http://dovecot.org/test/ - vpopmail authentication fix - many mmap_disable=yes fixes and a few optimizations - pop3 hang fix - mbox fix for "last-uid lost" error (hopefully last one) - mbox fix for losing dirty flag, causing lost message flags mmap_disable=yes seems to be finally working pretty well. There should be no more cache file related errors with it enabled. I'm still seeing "UID inserted in the middle of mailbox" error a couple of times in hour (out of ~320000 logins/h), so mbox code is still not perfect but I'd think it's good enough for normal use :)

Hi list, I m new to Dovecot. I have installed the software in freebsd 5.4 and I m wondering how to setup up a mail proxy gateway that consist of Dovecot, postfix(or qmail), ASSP, Clamav in a box? I m very apprecate for every suggestion. Thanks Sam

[Dovecot] Transaction log file issue on dovecot-stable

Situation: dovecot-stable-20050528 on x86, Linux 2.4.30, ext3, maildir I'm trying to use the imapsync utility (http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/) to copy 1500 messages from a UW-imap server to dovecot. After about 100 messages are successfully appended, I'm seeing this in the server log, following which all APPENDs fail. [Dovecot] imap disconnects on my account only

Talk about personal problems! I am using dovecot-0.99.13-4.FC2, and everything has been going fine for months. Earlier this afternoon, Thunderbird's status pane would say 'Sending authenticate login information...' and I would no longer receive email. When I checked with others, they were fine and dandy. I tried kmail, evolution, and even tried webmail. All had connection errors. Checking the logs I can see the following: May 27 14:07:58 mongo imap-login: Login: mitchy [162.84.141.200] May 27 14:07:58 mongo imap(mitchy): getgroups() failed: Invalid argument May 27 14:07:58 mongo dovecot: child 3264 (imap) returned error 89 I can see new messages in $Maildir, so it is all about authentication, which I am completely clueless about as it has been working for as long as I have had this server. What steps can I take to debug the situation? -- Mitch

I've been seeing this in my log (test69) for a user who has Thunderbird as a client: Error: IMAP(andrew): Corrupted index file /home/a/andrew/Maildir/dovecot.index: header doesn't end with NUL Thoughts? -D -- <dr.pox> what're the units of the coefficient of agnosticity? I don't knows per hour?

Hi, I've been running dovecot for awhile (about 18 months now) and I am very happy with it. I am currently planning an upgrade for the office server and I am wondering how is 1.0 going? Is it stable enough for production? I read a thread in the list from may 5th talking about the stability, and it seemed pretty decent. Anyways just looking for a bit of feedback on the evolution of 1.0 Thanks, Jean-Daniel

[Dovecot] IMAP Memory Error

Hi, I recently upgraded dovecot on an OpenBSD server from the 0.99.x series to the 1.0-test series to eliminate a problem. That was fixed, however I am now experiencing issues with IMAP(S) connections. The main IMAPS use to the server is via Squirrelmail (many users login with it), however I typically use Thunderbird. The user mailboxes are stored in Maildir format. Basically, moving, deleting or copying mails tends not to work. I have managed to move mails in Thunderbird if the source mailbox is small, and deleting mails usually works in Thunderbird. However, in Squirrelmail deleting or moving results in: "ERROR : Connection dropped by imap-server. Query: COPY 5629 "<dest-mailbox>" /var/log/maillog reports: May 24 23:19:03 orca dovecot: IMAP(jmcaree): pool_system_malloc(): Out of memory The Out of memory error appears when moving mails with Thunderbird, also. I had originally upgraded to dovecot1.0-test66 via a patch supplied by an OpenBSD porter. Today I decided to compile -test70 to see if it was any better. Unfortunately, this issue still exists. I tried upgrading Squirrelmail to the latest (1.4.4 from 1.4.3a), but no luck there. Since it's happening with both it and Thunderbird, though, I don't see it being a client issue. Server is: # uname -a OpenBSD my.hostname.com 3.7 GENERIC.RAID#0 amd64 I'd appreciate any assistance or advice on this issue! Obviously, I'd prefer to not have to downgrade to the 0.99.x series. :-) I'm not subscribed to the list, so please CC me with any replies. TIA, John.

[Dovecot] Auth Issue

I am so confused. Can someone help me out here? I have set it up so that it is to accept login via PLAIN TEXT. I am using Thunderbird to connect, and it will ask for my password (the username is already in the system) I get a pop-up for Enter the password for Username on Domain.com I enter my password (the same I would use to login to FTP) and it fails.
