[Dovecot] Problems with alpha3 + openssl-0.9.8

Sure, I'm using alpha3 with ssl 0.9.8 on Solaris 9 Sparc, no problems.
Alpha2 worked with 098 as well. Everything is built with gcc 4.0.1.
Mbox format, method=PLAIN, TLS, for imap.

BUT... openssl 0.9.8 had major problems on HP PA-RISC chipsets with
HPUX (32 bit and 64 bit), using gcc 4.0.1. It miserably failed its
self-tests. The SSL folks and I traced this to buggy code coming out
of gcc 4.0.1. With gcc 3.4.4 on the same platforms, everything worked
fine. I don't know if the SSL folks sent this bug up the chain to
GNU central or not.
