[Dovecot] Dovecot create mbox files. But why?

No, Dovecot doesn't look at the filename to figure out if it's maildir
or not. There are some autodetection things, but then it looks for
~/Maildir directory, and since you placed the home directly inside the
maildir, it's not finding it.

Set default_mail_env = maildir:%h or drop the Maildir part from home.
