The problem appears to be no /etc/aliases text file in the
said directory, /etc.
Try *find /etc/ -name aliases* and see where its exact location is
I see that postfix will actually generate the
/etc/aliases.db file from /etc/aliases, on each startup of
postfix.
That's incorrect. You need to run *newaliases* each time you edit
aliases file and a new aliases.db will be generated.
My main question is where does the text file /etc/aliases
originate from?
Is it part of the standard Linux distribution?
Or is it generated somehow for each specific Linux
installation?
Also, Can I use the /etc/aliases text file on my laptop for
my main machine, if one does not exist there after
installing postfix on it?
I need to know that the postfix installation will complete
successfully with FC6 on my main machine, before installing
FC6 there, in place of SuSE 10.1.
