I don't know if this has been mentioned here or even thought of in the grand scheme of things and I'm just sending a one time email about it "just in case" I recently swapped my server around and I'm using dovecot now....LOVE it! Could use a bit more intuitive error messages, but otherwise, it's great! But there is one flaw that I've run into with my users. Case sensitivity. As you all know, Linux is case sensitive and windows is not and mail should always be lower case. I have users who are checking Thisemail(a)domain.tld instead of thisemail(a)domain.tld. This causes my build to create a folder for Thisemail(a)domain.tld to check instead of pulling mail from thisemail(a)domain.tld Either rate, I'm correcting users when I find it, but it doesn't help when I have those that USE ALL CAPS BECAUSE EITHER IT'S COOL OR THEY USE IT FOR OTHER PURPOSES AND DON'T TURN IT OFF. Hi, Timo, thank you for your previus answer. Now I have other problems: - Error message: imap-login: Can't open SSL parameter file ssl-parameters.dat: Permission denied I don´t know if it is because I have another location for ssl-parameters.dat file $ls -la /var/run/dovecot-1.0/login/ssl-parameters.dat -rw------- 1 root dovecot 230 Jul 4 13:41 ssl-parameters.dat - I´m testing dovecot with Thunderbird 1.5.0.4 and when I try to access several folders this error appear: " ... use the Advanced IMAP Server Settings dialog to reduce the number of cache connections." in config file: auth_cache_size = 0 So cache is disable - And last error is when I send a message. It fails when try to copy message to Sent folder. Thank you in advance, Lucas

I found a bug in cmusieve plugin. I can do redirect: --- redirect "booking(a)jamesdo.com"; redirect "chabanel(a)net4all.ch"; keep; --- And vacation: --- require "vacation"; vacation :days 5 :addresses "info(a)lda.net4all.ch" :subject "Out of Office Reply" "Thanks for your email. I'm away from my desk, so I won't be able to reply until Thursday 15th April at the earliest. [Dovecot] Dovecot 1.0 RC1 + Plugin cmusieve "Sendmail qui with signal 11"

I just install RC1 + Plugin cmusieve (cvs), the sieve script is compiled and the sive lib seems OK. But in my log I have sendmail qui with signal 11 when I try to send a mail with "redirect" or "vacation" ? Any possibilitie to use a external SMTP server ? Signal 11 with sendmail is often a memory problem, but the server is in production since more than one month without any problem to sendmail. As discussed in the previous thread about "Dovecot deliver logging problem and procmail" I have made a small patch for procmail to deliver through dovecot's deliver program (or any other delivery program). So Procmail does not write the mailboxes directly any more. So delivery is done through pipes and an external program which can deliver the files. Since dovecot's deliver program can not handle absolute pathes, theses files are handled directly by procmail. See the configuration options below for details. Also INBOX handling needs special handling because this is handled through the /var/spool/mail/$LOGNAME folder which dovecot deliver can not handle. So this is mapped (when configured) to the INBOX folder. For debugging purposes you can add the VERBOSE=on variable. A sample configuration for dovecot usage with documentation is discussed below. Some other delivery agents (e.g. cyrus) might need other options. Keep in mind that the environment expansions with $ in the DELIVER_PROGRAM must be escaped with a backslash. [Dovecot] FW: Postfix Dovecot MySQL user/pass authentication:: Password Mismatch

Having some difficulty with this one: I have Postfix setup, with a web interface for postfixadmin. Both Dovecot and Postfix are setup to use the same MySQL database to authenticate users. Only SSL connections are allowed, so I use PLAIN/cleartext as my password type. Setting up users works correctly from Postfixadmin, and Dovecot recognizes the users and their respective directories, however, when I try to connect from an email client (Outlook in this case) I get the following errors in my log after enabling verbose debugging and auth logging: dovecot: Jul 05 17:00:00 Info: auth(default): client in: AUTH 1 PLAIN service=POP3 secured lip=192.168.0.10 .... dovecot: Jul 05 17:00:00 Info: auth-worker(default) sql(admin(a)domain.com,192.168.0.15): query: .... dovecot: Jul 05 17:00:00 Info: auth-worker(default) sql(admin(a)domain.com,192.168.0.15): Password mismatch dovecot: Jul 05 17:00:00 Info: auth-worker(default) sql(admin(a)domain.com,192.168.0.15): PLAIN-MD5 (testingpassword) != 'testingpassword' dovecot: Jul 05 17:00:00 Info: auth(default): client out: FAIL 1 user=admin(a)domain.com dovecot: Jul 05 17:00:00 Info: pop3-login: Disconnected: user=<admin(a)domain.com>, method=PLAIN, rip=192.168. .... Any suggestions? It seems like the passwords match, as it prints them both and they are the same, but for some reason it is failing when comparing them... I'm at a loss, and I can't seem to find anyone else who has had quite this issue. CentOS 4.3 if that helps, newest builds of dovecot and postfix downloaded and compiled today, both correctly with mysql and sasl support. I appreciate any input.. - Brad

[Dovecot] Postfix/Dovecot/SaSL/MySQL Problem

I have a current working installation of Postfix, Dovecot and MySQL. I want to utilize the Dovecot implementation of SaSL for SMTP-AUTH. Here is the issue I am running into when making the appropriate changes to my configs, when starting Dovecot with the addition of the socket listen configuration in dovecot.conf, I see this error in the logs: Jul 5 00:02:11 localhost dovecot: Dovecot v1.0.beta9 starting up Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25908 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25910 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25911 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: child 25912 (auth) returned error 89 Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: Auth process died too early - shutting down Jul 5 00:02:12 localhost dovecot: auth(default): Socket already exists: /var/spool/postfix/private/auth Not quite sure why this is happening...I searched on google for this and found nothing. If anyone could please shed some light on this for me then please do as it would be appreciated.
