[Dovecot] TLS / SSL login with Thunderbird very slow ?

"send the mail" has nothing to do with Dovecot, but with the SMTP
server, such as Exim (which may try ident queries that your client
possibly firewalls) or Postfix.

Figure out what takes so long (Wireshark or tcpdump) - do not only log
Dovecot queries.
