[Dovecot] using mbox but, can't create subfolders

Well,

 I noticed that the  "Let this folder contain subfolders" check box is gone in the Folder options.  How do I get this back.

Are you trying to create a subfolder with the same name as an existing mailbox? 
  mbox can not do this.

Or is it that you can't create any at all?  If so, what is the error message 
returned when you do this?  What do the logs say?
