[Dovecot] wrong permission

So the problem is it's 0600 instead of 0700?

Maybe because OS X users were upgrading to Leopard and its Mail.app
started creating these mailboxes?

Do you have dovecot-shared files anywhere? Have you specified umask
setting in dovecot.conf?
